Our Story
1st SPRITES group picture - 1968
Founder, co-creator, and first SPRITES president Betty Brayshay is an inspirational leader and philanthropist! Along with 5 other women pioneers in 1968, Betty helped form SPRITES of East County. The women were inspired to teach their daughters how communities work best by supporting all those in need.
Since her time in SPRITES, Betty has been involved with the Doris A. Howell Foundation, Rady’s Children’s Hospital, Salvation Army, Girl Scouts, and Patrons of the Prado, just to name a few. She continues to fight for education on women’s health, believing, “Women are the main ingredient in life’s recipe for family: strong, supportive, independent, yet loving and inspiring. Let’s do all we can to keep the women we love healthy!”
